Details of the two awards

1. Professor Isabelle Attali memorial CIMPA scholarship for the outstanding B.Sc Mathematics Special Degree Graduate awarded by the Educational Support Foundation - Ruhuna Mathematics.
   • Criteria of Selection:
     • The grantee should obtain at least an Upper Second Class in B.Sc Mathematics Special Degree in the relevant year.
     • The grantee should have shown exceptional merit at her/his degree programme of studies which shall be decided by the Faculty of Science upon the recommendation of the Department of Mathematics.
     • The grantee should be the one who scored the highest aggregate at the B.Sc Special Degree in Mathematics in the relevant year.
   • Type of the Award:
     • Gold Medal and,
     • the gold medal shall be made and provided by the ESFoRuM adhering to the specifications and criteria provided by the University of Ruhuna. (No cash shall be paid to the university for purchasing the medal).
   • What the ESFoRuM expect from the grantee ?: The ESFoRuM expects from the grantee to send a statement of progress of her/his career which should also include her/his future expectations on research/employment after one year from the graduation to the ESFoRuM.
2. Dr. Jude Peiris memorial CIMPA scholarship for the outstanding B.Sc Physical Science Graduate who followed Industrial Mathematisc or Applicable Mathematics awarded by the Educational Support Foundation - Ruhuna Mathematics.
   • Criteria of Selection:
     • The grantee should obtain at least an Upper Second Class in B.Sc (Physical Sciences) General Degree and should have followed the course Industrial Mathematics or Applicable Mathematics.
     • The grantee should have shown exceptional merit for the Industrial Mathematics or Applicable Mathematics course at her/his degree programme of studies which shall be decided by the Faculty of Science upon the recommendation of the Department of Mathematics.
     • The grantee should be the one who scored the highest aggregate for the Industrial Mathematics or Applicable Mathematics course.
   • Type of the Award:
     • Gold Medal and,

Herewith I re-submit the above proposal with the necessary changes along with the other supporting documents, as it has been suggested at the Special Senate meeting held on the 11 $^$th November 2005.
