Dr. Jude Peiris, who was a Senior Lecturer
of the department of Mathematics was one of the very few functional
analysis experts available in Sri Lanka. His research interests were
on Operator Semi Group Theory in which he had excellented by
publishing many articles on the subject in international journals.
His guidance and encouragement for Mathematics Special Degree students had
played a big role in motivating them in pursuing graduate studies in
relevant areas. As such, we would like to propose the second of
the proposed awards be given in the memory of Dr. Peiris.
